Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel. Later, head to Mabamba Swamp, a Ramsar-listed wetland renowned for the Shoebill Stork, African Jacana, Malachite Kingfisher, and Papyrus Gonolek. Return to Entebbe for dinner and briefing about your upcoming journey.
After breakfast, drive west through beautiful countryside to Kibale National Park, Uganda’s primate capital. En route, enjoy sightings of Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, White-throated Bee-eater, and African Harrier Hawk. In the evening, take a short bird walk around Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for species such as the Great Blue Turaco, Speckled Tinkerbird, and Blue-breasted Kingfisher.
Spend the day birding in Kibale Forest, home to over 375 bird species. Look out for the Green-breasted Pitta, African Pitta, Nahan’s Francolin, and Yellow-spotted Barbet. You may also encounter several primates including red colobus monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys during your birding walk.
Depart Kibale for Queen Elizabeth National Park, birding along the way through the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, enjoy birding along the Kazinga Channel and Mweya Peninsula, spotting species like the African Skimmer, Long-tailed Cormorant, and Pied Kingfisher.
Begin with an early morning birding drive through Kasenyi Plains. Expect Temminck’s Courser, Red-capped Lark, Crowned Lapwing, and raptors like Martial Eagle. In the afternoon, embark on a birding cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where pelicans, kingfishers, and bee-eaters are common.
Head south through the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions and rich birdlife. Spot Black Bee-eater, Crowned Hornbill, and African Black-headed Oriole en route. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to over 350 bird species including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
